I Fall Down, Luckily On Yarn, Quite Often

Today, due to an unexpected yarn sponsorship, I picked up a few things. My Poems Sock order came in:

And found a pattern for a baby sweater for Miss M., when someone I knew from our SnB came in with a completed sweater from this pattern here. And I picked up the green yarn she used:

Meanwhile, I was possessed and justified picking up a multi-purple colorway of Lorna Lace's:

With a free pattern on the inside that I think I can handle knitting:

In the meantime, I've some yarn that I washed that must be wound into yarn cakes, to wait their turn to be knitted into a shrug this fall.

UN Launched International Year of Natural Fibers 2009

How did I manage to miss this announcement? Okay, I've been a bit distracted by the whole being unemployed thing since January, but really!

What Is That Mink and That Goat Doing?!

Cashmere. Mmmm. Mink. Lovely, but don't want to really wear their pelts. But what about mink and cashmere yarn?

Of course, while I may dream of such things, someone actually went and did it. I found out through the Knitter's Review - Yarn Profile: Great Northern Yarns Mink Cashmere.

Go read. I'll wait.

You know I hopped right on over to Great Northern Yarns and checked out the stock. After some dithering on my part, and a rather unexpected yarn sponsorship, I chose the Jet Black in DK weight and the Natural in DK weight.

They arrived today.

O. MY. HELL.

You think cashmere is soft? You think cashmere and camel down is soft? You think cashmere and top merino is soft? Go get your hands on this yarn.

While you can still feel the spinning oil, as Knitter's Review stated, you can feel how soft this yarn is...I'm going to leave it with the oil on it, based on the review. I'll wash it after the scarf I'm going to knit (seed stitch) is finished.

By the way? Craig Turner is a very nice person, who sent me a lovely email confirming my order. And the order was shipped incredibly fast!

So I'm saving this yarn as my reward for finishing the CoM's shrug (70% finished), the Tiny Beehive Tea Cup Cozy, and my Noro scarf (which is a reward on its own!).

Beehive Mini and Evil Chocolate Pie

I'm currently working on a miniature of the Beehive I made earlier - one to fit a Japanese lidded cup. It's for a friend of mine that found the bee buttons:

Now to the evil chocolate pie. This is made from scratch chocolate and raspberry pie, with a crust made with butter and cream cheese:

As you see, three slices were cut yesterday. All three of us nearly fell over from how delicious this pie is...

It's a special order from East Side Bakery. Nikki will be happy to do special orders with at least 24 hours advance notice. Go. Try the Evil Chocolate Pie.

Lucky

I am a fortunate person! One of the women in my SnB knit me a pair of socks out of sock yarn I had destashed and gifted to her...she's a superb knitter and I'm lucky to have these gorgeous creatures to warm my toes this fall!

It was such a surprise to receive them last week!

Thanks, C.!

I'm not sure it's "sexy", but it's sure fun!
