Write It Up or Possible Abandonment Ahead

So.

I'm knitting this sweater for a certain little person (Miss Mallory). I'm not happy about the whole flipping-back-and-forth between the sweater pattern and the cable pattern.

Do I sit down and take the time to write it out by hand (please, on the computer, people!) or do I wantonly abandon this project...

And knit one of these again?

I think we all know where this is headed...

Sumo!

Photobucket

It's been too long around here with anything posted about Sumo!

Here's an excellent site that I found through my Twittering:

Working Down The List

Kinda. Sorta. Making up the list as I go does count, right?

I'm making the Cabled Raglan Baby Sweater for Miss M:

Then there's the Gathered Scarf I'm knitting from the mink & cashmere yarn:

I lightened the photo considerably so you can see the stitching:

And if you refer back up to the top photo, I'm still chugging along on my reading wrap...

Meanwhile, Carol from the SnB created a knitting tote with her new sewing machine that also embroiders! It's a sheep knitting its own fleece:

And it holds quite a bit:

Thanks again, Carol - it's fantastic!

Joining Sumo Sheep...

Is this adorable sheep:

A gift from my favorite Canuck - I think it reminds me most of the Pixar short, "Boundin'"!

Shiny

Okay, so I got it into my head that I wanted to bead the cashmere and mink yarn (which, by the way, is the fucking bomb in softness - more on that later) and ran off to the local bead shop to pick up some bling (is that word even still used?)...

Photobucket

Why yes, you mouthy observant persons, I do have other projects that I'll be beading in the *ahem* future:

Photobucket

Fine, a closer look then:

Yes, eventually I'll get to those projects. In the meantime, I was distracted with this project:

I decided to go with the dark gray beads. So here are the beads and some wrapped jewelry wire for getting the beads on the yarn:

The process:

Feel free to ask questions!

In the end, however, I found the yarn much too soft and fuzzy to bead. I mean the beads went on, but you can't find them for you life:

Photobucket

So, time for some frogging and begin again without the beads.

Finally, someone asked for another shot of the Noro scarf, the colors are pretty true in this photo:

Just Sad

Really.

First, I love the woman's hair cut in the photo.

Second, the color of her hair is cool, too. Hmm...maybe not on me.

Third, if I thought the shrug was never ending, WTF is wrong with me that I want to knit this for myself?

A Much Better Model!

FO!

About damn time, too.

I'll get better photos where the shrug's not so wonky tomorrow, when the CoM picks it up.

Whip It, Whip It Good!

All that's left is to whip stitch or mattress stitch the sleeves and sides, then the Never Ending Fucking Shrug will be finished!

"Those who are here can place no hope in death"

I have come to believe that I now inhabit a circle of Dante's Inferno that was never described.

It's for those persons who have annoyed others, switched lanes without a proper signal, bought store cookies and passed them off as their own and felt slightly guilty about it but never 'fessed up, and possibly outright pissed off several people along the way for various reasons.

Welcome to the Never Ending Fucking Shrug circle of hell:

I have been knitting on this thing and knitting on it, and yet more knitting. I have been so good to my word about not starting anything new to take the edge of the crankiness that's growing with this shrug. Does it progress better then for my virtuous behavior? Of course not. Thank the uber geeks for iPod and podcasts and audio books.

Only Garrison Keillor reading his work, "Stories," can make this endurable.
