Emma Settling In

No real knitting news as I've not touched the needles in about ten days. Too much going on between leaving my temp job, getting a new permanent job, taking care of Emma, helping out with a local event.

I took the girl to the vet on Friday, who confirmed that based on the location where she was found, the problems that have been taken care of or are being taken care of, she was dumped. Emma was picked up in a rural and farming area of our city where in recent weeks 14 "stray" dogs have been found. The HSSC confirmed this for me, although they wouldn't give me the numbers, but I found that out from another source.

However, she's healing up very well. She's got her rabies vaccination, heartworm preventative meds going, and flea & tick protection. Emma's cost some serious money from my savings already with the vet care so far. And it looks like many months' worth of car payments to fix the bad shape her mouth is in. The vet said Emma's about 2 years old, but her mouth looks like a dog of 6 or 7 years. We hope we'll catch and correct the problems in time to save most of her teeth.

Meanwhile, she's eating much better, loves her Nylabone, and she's being a bed hog:

This is what I wake up to:

Some other shots to kill you with the Emma cute:

I found her favorite game is a doggy version of "chicken." You sort of run to her like you're going to catch her and she runs as fast as she towards you, at the last minute she veers off and goes careening around the sofa... She does another lap, reverses direction to play "chicken" with you again, only in the opposite direction.

Man, I really love my little money pit:

And doesn't she know it.
